ISSUE FOUR: PUBLIC
SAFETY
The Issue
When our citizens walk our streets, they must
feel safe. When our business owners are open late, they must feel
safe. When our kids are in school, they must feel safe.
Without safety there is no growth. Cohesive growth is the key to
any community.
My Stance
Public Safety is a #1 priority. A strong
law enforcement presence and community involvement are the keys to
success. It is my endeavor to get as many people involved in the
public safety effort as possible. Our strength is in our numbers
and our collective voice.
The Future
- Increase the number of patrol police walking
the streets in our area
- Support local governments and law
enforcement departments in the joint policing of our community
- Focus a coordinated Los Angeles County law
enforcement effort on gangs and juvenile offenders geared toward
crime prevention not crime response
- Increase membership and resources for the
citizen police oversight commission
- Support community Neighborhood Safety
Organizations, Neighborhood Watch programs and community groups with
active law enforcement participation
- Increase economic development and job
opportunities to curb poverty related crime
- Institute youth programs coordinated
with local community organizations to prevent juvenile
infractions and gang involvement
- GET AS MANY CITIZENS INVOLVED IN
PUBLIC SAFETY AS POSSIBLE -- IT'S NOT THEIR
JOB ITS OUR JOB
