ISSUE SIX:
QUALITY OF LIFE
The Issue
Sometimes lost in the shuffle between new
housing construction, airport issues and fears of crime is our quality
of life. The daily grind can wear on a community and its
people. Communities often become so industry minded that they
forget about arts, entertainment and recreation. Our community has
become highly industrialized. We do not want to loose our soul in
the process.
My Stance
The arts and entertainment have been a
long-standing focus during my life in public service. I believe
the arts, entertainment and overall high quality of life can be the
elixir for many of the ills of our community. Our general welfare
demands attention to quality of life issues.
The Future
- Continued sponsoring of the weekly arts festivals
and events
- Continued development of Market Street
- Enforcement of the city's policy devoting 1%
of all new construction dollars spent over $250,000.00 being
spent on the arts
- Expansion of parks services area wide
- Continuing the beautification and facade
program of our area
- INJECT THE LIVELINESS OF ARTS AND
ENTERTAINMENT INTO DAILY LIVING IN OUR COMMUNITY AND
EMPHASIZE ITS
IMPORTANCE
