ISSUE TWO: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Issue
We have had considerable development in
Downtown Inglewood, Central Inglewood, and Century Boulevard among other
areas in our community. Jobs have been created and
entrepreneurship supported. The Wal-Mart initiative was defeated
to keep small business owners, and the numerous jobs they create,
flourishing. Yet problems still exist. A few vacant lots and
buildings remain. More jobs can and must be created.
My Stance
Our community should be a hub for economic development
in the Los Angeles area. By nurturing the quality businesses that
we already have and attracting new ones, our community will thrive.
The Future
- Expand our community business loan programs
- Expand our business technical assistance
programs
- Seek specific rewards for businesses that have
documented job creation records
- Create new loan programs and tax incentives
for businesses
- Expand community involvement in our newly
created Franchise Institute toward creating new
franchise owners for our community
- Utilize the Franchise Institute to support
local franchisers and franchisees
- Enforce the city government's policy that
new construction must conform to the "Art Deco"
design of our area
- CONTINUE TO HAVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND
JOB CREATION A CENTRAL FOCUS FOR ALL OF THE STAKEHOLDERS IN OUR COMMUNITY
