| Curren De Mille Price, Jr., was first elected and served on the Inglewood City Council from 1993-1997, bringing with him a strong background in community economic development, education and citizen participation. He was re-elected to the council on April 6, 2001, in furtherance of his commitment to serve the constituents of the 1st Councilmanic District. |

Prior to his re-election,
Curren was the founding Executive Director for a community development corporation serving the Hyde Park Community; he also was the Southern California Director for a statewide association, which provides training to assist community based organizations implement community economic development strategies involving housing, business assistance and commercial real estate projects.
Curren has successfully bridged the public and private sectors utilizing executive skills developed from corporate positions in telecommunications, international trade and aerospace industries to further community development objectives.On the City Council, Curren has supported increased spending for public safety and maintenance of the city’s infrastructure. He chairs the council committee on Economic Development and serves as co-chair of the Public Information Committee. In the area of economic development, Curren has been as effective advocate for smart growth initiatives, and the enactment of regulations that are more “business friendly.” He has been successful in marshalling public and private resources to begin the revitalization of Manchester Boulevard and other neglected commercial corridors in the city. He remains a strong proponent for the arts as a tool for economic development and in February 2004 initiated the Morningside Park Cultural Awareness and Community Art Festival to further this objective. |
Curren remains actively involved in civic affairs and has served on the Boards of many community organizations including
Centinela Valley Juvenile Diversion Project, the Inglewood YMCA, and the Fair Housing Congress of Southern California and the Urban Health Care Project. He also has been appointed to serve on the Los Angeles County Insurance Commission and the
MTA-South Bay Governance Council and works actively to support programs that positively impact families and children in his district. Mr. Price has been recognized for his community service by a cross section of civic, political, social and educational organizations, including the NAACP, National Association of Women University, the Inglewood Unified Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee. Curren is a proponent of life-long learning, and has a teaching credential for Adult Education and the Community College system. He has traveled extensively in Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. Curren was born in Los Angeles and spent his adolescent years in Inglewood, graduating from Morningside High School. He went on to earn a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Stanford University, and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Santa Clara. |
